Popular Tea-time snack
Bawang Jumput-Jumput is a traditional Malay snack made by frying small pinches of batter mixed with sliced onions, creating crispy bite-sized fritters. The name literally means “pinched onions” in Malay (“bawang” = onion, “jumput-jumput” = to pinch), referring to the way the batter is pinched and dropped into hot oil before frying until golden and crunchy.
It is often enjoyed as a simple tea-time snack, sometimes served with chilli sauce, and is similar in style to other Southeast Asian fritters like cucur bawang.
